Deze blog biedt jullie een unieke mogelijkheid om eens te vergelijken wat jonge mensen in onze twee landen vandaag nog weten over Anne Frank en de jodenvervolging in de tweede wereldoorlog. We richten ons vooral op Nederland waar de helft van ons woont, de andere helft van ons over leert, en waar Anne haar dagboek schreef. We praten ook samen over stereotypen, over het wel of niet nog bestaan van negatieve gevoelens jegens Duitsers, en over anti-Semitisme in onze verschillende landen.
Welcome to our Anne Frank blog! This blog offers you a unique opportunity to compare what young people in our two countries still know today about Anne Frank and the persecution of Jews in World War II. We focus on The Netherlands: half of us are learning about this country, the other half live there, and Anne wrote her diary there. We also talk together about stereotypes, about remaining negative feelings toward Germans, and about anti-Semitism in our respective countries.
From summer 1942 to summer 1944 Anne Frank wrote a diary while hiding from Nazi persecution in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Her diary has become one of the most iconic works of the Holocaust, read around the world in some 70 languages. In this blog, Dutch and American students discuss what they know today of the diary, the Holocaust, and the Dutch World War II experience, and how this knowledge affects current feelings towards Germany and anti-Semitism.
