3. Yes, if were are working at de WOII period with history, but not daily. Sure we al know her and her story.

1. Not they don't talk it, the one who have exprienced the war dont really want to talk about beacause it is a dark place in there history. We leared a lot about the holocaust at school but we did'nt learn all of the ins and outs. Kiki : I know a lot from it, more than we learned at school. Sophie : The most things i know about the holocaust is what i've seen in films or read in books.

2. None, it's a big part of our history but it is not effecting our lifes. It is probably differend if the holocaust wasn't there but we are used to the way it is now, we don't know the differends.

3. Everyone is one minute silent for the one's who where killed in the holocaust ( the 4the of may ) and at libery day we have a big festival ( 5th of may ). We dont know what the Allie forced is.

4. We dont know the exact number, we do know the that dutch had a big resistance. Yes, there is a very good book about it, called Sonny boy. It's about a black guy from surinam who came to the Netherlands to studie, he was a very good swimmer. But in the time he arrived in the netherlands the war came. A white woman took him in here house and fall in love with him, it was forbidden. She got a baby with him called Sunny boy. The german discoverd them and took them away and but the black guy on an ship. He escaped and swom back, he survived but we he was at the coast a got shot. It is a story base on a true story. The kid sunny boy found out what happend to his parents.

5. No we didn't know about it

1. Normal, not every german is bad and thinks the way Hitler did. But sure there are some things we don't like about the german for example they always speak german to you and most of the time that is not polite.

2. Yes ther are stereotypes, but that is logic. Of the german who drink a lot of beer etc. We dont thing thay german is not to call nagitive names probably more 'Nazi'

1. Yes, we know a few people and probably yes but we dont really know for sure.

 1. I know the Anne Frank's story, we discussed the topic in different classes like history and now this class. I haven't read her diary, but I would still like to read it someday.

2. I have never been to the Anne Frank's house myself, but my uncle, who lives in Amsterdam had been there a few times with his daughter.

3. Nowadays we don't often speak about her anymore, it's not that you hear her name very often. Maybe in history classes that are about this topic. You could say that she's a famous figure.

1.. I never hear my parents or grandparents talk about the war. Maybe if someone asks for it, but it's not something that you discuss daily. I have learned about the Holocaust in school, not the very shocking parts, most of the times you read that in books or see that in movies. I have seen some documentary's about the Holocaust. most of the times the documentary was about the horror that took place.

2. The war hasn't had any impact on my life. I feel sorry for the family of the victims, but that's all. I did have a grandpa who was with the resistance. Unfortunately I have never had the chance to ask him about it.

3. We do celebrate May 5. We have this festival where we always go to to celebrate. For most people it's just a festival. but I still think some people really go there to celebrate it. Almost everyone in our country watches the memorial on May 4th. Everyone is suposed to be quiet for 2 minutes and think about the victims of the war.

4. I don't know how many Jews were killed, I do know that there were too many. As said, my grandpa was with the resistance so I think he helped some Jews too.

5. I didn't know that, but I hope they had a good reason for it, or maybe were forced to do it.

1. Nowadays, there is no hate like after the war. They maybe are Germans, but that doesn't mean they did something wrong. It's not their fault what their former relatives did. On the contrary, there is some tension in soccer games between the two countries. I think the war actually has something to do with that.

2. Yes, we hear stereotypes alot, that they're fat, drink much beer, and  that their language is stupid. I don't know if the war has had any influence about it.

1. My great-grandmother was Jewish. I never had any Jewish children in my class, not that I know at least.

2. We discussed about it because People from Rotterdam have their football club, Feyenoord. Amsteram has Ajax. people from Ajax are sometimes made out for Jews, in a bad way, they sings songs about them, they abuse the word etc.

3. As said,  there is anti-semitism in the Ajax-Feyenoord rivalry.

Welcome!/Welkom!

Welcome to our Anne Frank blog! This blog offers you a unique opportunity to compare what young people in our two countries still know today about Anne Frank and the persecution of Jews in World War II. We focus on The Netherlands: half of us are learning about this country, the other half live there, and Anne wrote her diary there. We also talk together about stereotypes, about remaining negative feelings toward Germans, and about anti-Semitism in our respective countries.
